RotoPrism Series

Dual shapes of the Fracture Series puzzles. This series led to the discovery of deeper-than-origin geometries.

Fractured Prism

Fractured Prism

Fractured Prism is a shape modification of my previous Fracture-10 puzzle. Like Fracture-10, Fractured Prism turns on five axes, one at each square face. Each axis can turn in 90 degree increments, but only when that face shows four-fold symmetry with no triangular pieces. Otherwise, 180 degree turns must be used.

RotoPrism 3 (round)

RotoPrism 3 (round)

RotoPrism 3 (round) is a bandaged puzzle with three axes of rotation, based on the geometry of the triangular dipyramid. The three axes are located at the center of each face around the equator of the puzzle. Every axis can turn in 90 degree increments, but only when there are no triangular pieces on that face, otherwise the axis will be limited to 180 degree turns.

RotoPrism 2VB

RotoPrism 2VB

RotoPrism 2VB has been modified slightly from original RotoPrism 2. The result is that the phantom axes that appeared on the RotoPrism 2 are now visually blocked (that's the "VB" in the name). This makes playing the RotoPrism 2VB a bit easier to understand than the original RotoPrism 2, since it is clear to see when a real slice plane is available for turning.

RotoPrism 2

RotoPrism 2

RotoPrism 2 is a deeper-than-origin puzzle that led to the discovery of this interesting property. The three axes are at the center of each face on the equator of the puzzle. Every axis is capable of turning in 90 degree increments, but only when there are no triangular pieces on that face, otherwise the axis will be limited to 180 degree turns.

RotoPrism 3 (flat)

RotoPrism 3 (flat)

RotoPrism 3 (flat) is a jumbling puzzle with three axes of rotation. It is a shape modification of my Fracture-6 puzzle. The axes are located at the center of each face on the equator of the puzzle. Every axis can turn in 90 degree increments, but only when there are no triangular pieces on that face, otherwise the axis will be limited to 180 degree turns.

RotoPrism 2 Peekaboo

RotoPrism 2 Peekaboo

RotoPrism 2 Peekaboo is a see-through version of my RotoPrism 2 puzzle. In this version there are holes in the face centers that allow you to see the core. Those pieces are colored to correspond to the outer colors, and they must be solved too. This makes the puzzle much tricker, as you are solving two puzzles at the same time.

RotoCrystal

RotoCrystal

The RotoCrystal puzzle is a shape modification of my Fracture-12 puzzle. I found the RotoCrystal shape to be aesthetically pleasing since the visible core parts are more in proportion to the rest of the puzzle. RotoCrystal shape shifts and jumbles, and can be quite a challenge to solve.

OctoCube

OctoCube

OctoCube is a jumbling puzzle shape-modification of a vertex turning "fracture sliced" triakis octahedron. It turns on six axes, one at each face of the puzzle. Each axis can be turned in 45 degree increments, but only when that face center shows eight-way symmetry. Otherwise axes are limited to 90 degree moves.

OctoCube has been mass produced as the  Octo-Star Cube. Purchase it at the HK Now Store.
