Andromeda & Infinity

These puzzles are based on Archimedean solids with five sided faces, and an equivalent tiling of an infinite plane of hexagons.

Andromeda Cube Plus

Andromeda Cube Plus

Andromeda Cube Plus is very similar to my original Andromeda Cube. With the "Plus" version, the four pieces around the center of each face have been split in two, allowing more freedom of movement. This version is available 3D printed with inset color tiles. See link below.

Andromeda Dodecahedron Plus

Andromeda Dodecahedron Plus

Andromeda Dodecahedron Unbandaged is a puzzle based on the pentagonal hexecontahedron. The unbandaging allows the pieces near the face centers to exchange places with the corners of the puzzle. Andromeda Dodecahedron Plus is a jumbling-only puzzle with 60 axes of rotation, making it a beast to solve.

Whirlpool Cube Plus

Whirlpool Cube Plus

Whirlpool Cube Plus is a close cousin of my previous Andromeda Cube Plus. The Whirlpool Cube Plus uses conic cuts instead of the spherical cuts of the Andromeda Cube. This allows opposite axes on the same face to turn simultaneously due to the elimination of overhang bandaging. The "Plus" cuts unbandage the puzzle further.

Whirlpool Cube

Whirpool Cube

Whirlpool Cube is a close cousin of my previous Andromeda Cube. The Whirlpool Cube uses conic cuts instead of the spherical cuts of the Andromeda Cube. This allows opposite axes on the same face to turn simultaneously due to the elimination of overhang bandaging.

Face of Infinity

Face of Infinity

Face of Infinity is part of a series of puzzles that began with The Andromeda Cube. It continued by adding an edge to each face with The Andromeda Dodecahedron. Face of Infinity adds another edge to each face, creating hexagonal faces, which tile an infinite plane. The pieces in Face of Infinity all have analogues to the previous two puzzles. Interestingly, Face of Infinity is not jumbling, whereas the previous two puzzles are jumbling puzzles.

Faceof Infinity 7th Circle Unbandaged

Face of Infinity 7th Circle Unbandaged

This puzzle is the same as my previous Face of Infinity 7th Circle, but this time unbandaging cuts have been added to the six large triangular "face" pieces near the center of the puzzle. As with the previous puzzle, the center (7th) circle can turn provided it is not blocked by the surrounding axles.

Face of Infinity 7th Circle

Face of Infinity 7th Circle

Face of Infinity 7th Circle is a variation on my previous "Face of Infinity". This time, if the bandaging allows, a seventh circle in the center of the puzzle can be turned independently from the six primary axes of rotation.

Face of Infinity Unbandaged

Face of Infinity Unbandaged

Face of Infinity Unbandaged is the same as the previous Face of Infinity puzzle, with the addition of cuts that separate the face pieces into two parts. One part is equivalent to the corner pieces, and one is equivalent to the edge pieces. The axles remain intact, leaving a limited amount of bandaging in the puzzle, and highlighting the relationship to the previous "Andromeda" puzzles.

Face of Andromeda

Face of Andromeda

Face of Andromeda consists of a subset of the axes from the Andromeda Cube. Each axis of Face of Andromeda has eight potential stopping places where turns can be made on one or more of the other axes, plus its' starting place. However, due to bandaging (including overhang bandaging at the center) this number is quickly reduced as turns are made.

Edge of Infinity

Edge of Infinity

Part of the "Infinity" series of puzzles, which are based on a hexagonal tiling of a plane. This is the simplest puzzle in the series, being centered on one edge between two hexagons, and having only two intersecting circles. It is a non-jumbling bandaged puzzle, but don't be fooled, it is still very difficult to solve!

Edge of Infinity Unbandaged

Edge of Infinity Unbandaged

Edge of Infinity Unbandaged is a new version of the previous Edge of Infinity puzzle where the larger triangular pieces have been cut into two. One is the equivalent of an edge piece, and one the equivalent of a corner piece.

Corner of Infinity

Corner of Infinity

This puzzle is a smaller brother to my previous Face of Infinity puzzle. Whereas that puzzle is centered on a full hexagonal face, Corner of Infinity is centered on one corner of the hexagonal tiling. It therefore has only three axes of rotation, and only uses three colors instead of seven. Like the previous puzzle, it is non-jumbling, but still bandaged, and extremely difficult to solve.

Edge of Andromeda

Edge of Andromeda

Edge of Andromeda consists of two of the original 24 axes of the Andromeda Cube. Each axis can initially stop at four different places where one turn on the other axis can be made. Due to the jumbling and bandaging, the number of possible moves will vary from position to position.
Although the puzzle is restricted to two of the original moves it can not be translated into a 2D-puzzle.

Andromeda Dodecahedron

Andromeda Dodecahedron

Andromeda Dodecahedron is an extension of the Andromeda Cube concept. Whereas the Andromeda Cube is based on the pentagonal icositetrahedron and has 24 axes of rotation, the Andromeda Dodecahedron is based on the pentagonal hexacontahedron and has 60 axes of rotation. Every move is jumbling.

Corner of Infinty Unbandaged

Corner of Infinity Unbandaged

Corner of Infinity Unbandaged is the same as the previous Corner of Infinity puzzle, with the addition of cuts that separate the face pieces into two parts. One part is equivalent to the corner pieces, and one is equivalent to the edge pieces. The axles remain intact, leaving a limited amount of bandaging in the puzzle, and highlighting the relationship to the previous "Andromeda" puzzles.

Corner of Andromeda

Corner of Andromeda

Corner of Andromeda is the second of the two puzzles made by restricting an Andromeda Cube. It consists of three axes from the Andromeda Cube. From the starting state, there are three stopping points that have turns available on both other axes, and two more stopping points that only have turns available on one of the other axes.

Andromeda Cube

Andromeda Cube

Andromeda Cube is based on the pentagonal icositetrahedron, and is a jumbling only puzzle. It has 24 axes of rotation, each of which can stop at nine different places where subsequent turns on adjacent axes can be made. The Andromeda Cube shapeshifts and bandages constantly, making it extremely complex to solve.
